Introduction to WMC-2019

With the guidance of China Association for Science and Technology and Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China, hosted by China Institute of Navigation and Shanghai Maritime University, World Maritime Conference (WMC-2019) has been held on Oct. 21st, 2019 in Shanghai, China. WMC-2019 is an international event focusing on the current hot topics and major advances in the Maritime field by attracting experts on a global scale. The aim of the conference is to bring together leading scientists, well-known scholars, engineers, practitioners, business elites, lawers and policy makers from multidisciplinary research and application areas to exchange information on their latest research progress and innovation.

Future Search in WMC-2019 

Mr.Mo, President of the China Classification Society when speaking boldly conceived the future development of the ship in 2030 and 2050. By 2030, the ship design is still introducing advanced technology of existing ship, and data integration will also form the auxiliary decision system, at the same time, more and more ship shore-based support in operation. By 2050, the vessel type design will take place massive changing. There will be no engine room but only energy chamber, and will give priority to with autonomous navigation, supplemented by shore-based operations. For cargo ships, the best operating mode should be autonomous navigation anchorage to anchorage, port to port, not berth to berth.
