VAS 9 Net Buoy: Dual-Mode GPS/Beidou Positioning Keeps Fishing Gear Safe and Ships Alerted

VAS 9 Net Buoy is generation II of class-B transmitting equipment that is developed by CETCME R&D department. It is mainly used in locating the fishing net and warning other ships to avoid the nets.

It's equipped with external antenna. VAS9 communication distance can reach 12 nautical mile, the full charge battery can last 360 hours ( once transmitting of every minute).

It uses aging resistance material, three-protection process and sealed case, in order to make sure VAS9 can keep working in severe sea environment.

Feature:

*GPS / Beidou dual-mode precise positioning, regularly transmitting GPS dynamic information and static information to AIS automatic identification system.

*The high-power transmitter, the signal is more stable, further.

*Equipped with external antenna, communication distance can reach 12nm.

*The full charged battery can last 360 hours ( once every time).

FAQ - VAS 9 Net Buoy

1. What is the VAS 9 Net Buoy?

The VAS 9 Net Buoy is a Class-B AIS (Automatic Identification System) transmitting device developed by the R&D department of CETCME, as the second-generation product. It is installed on fishing net buoys to track net positions and send alert signals to nearby vessels, preventing collisions or propeller entanglement between ships and fishing gear.

2. What positioning systems does it support?

It supports dual-mode GPS/Beidou positioning, enabling high-precision location tracking and transmitting both dynamic and static position data to the AIS system.

3. How far can the signal reach?

Equipped with an external VHF antenna, the communication range can reach up to 12 nautical miles (approximately 22.2 kilometers).

4. How long does the battery last?

It is powered by a built-in 7.4V lithium battery. In the once-per-minute transmission mode, the battery life can reach 360 hours (about 15 days). The device is also equipped with an infrared programming interface for convenient parameter configuration.

5. Is it waterproof and durable enough for marine environments?

*Waterproof rating: IPX7 – capable of withstanding temporary immersion in water.

*The housing is made of ABS composite material, which is corrosion-resistant and anti-aging.

*It adopts three-proof technology (moisture-proof, salt-fog-proof, and anti-mold) along with a fully sealed design, ensuring long-term reliable operation in harsh marine conditions.

6. Can the buoy be located at night?

Yes. The device features a photosensitive automatic flashing light that activates based on ambient light conditions, making it easy to locate at night.

7. Can it be used in other scenarios besides fishing?

Yes. Apart from commercial fishing vessels, the VAS 9 is also suitable for navigation aids, marker buoys, offshore platforms, and other marine operations where asset tracking and collision avoidance are needed.
