Why is oil pollution still a persistent challenge?
Oil pollution remains a persistent challenge in ports, offshore areas, and industrial wastewater systems. In practice, surface oil can spread rapidly and form a thin layer that becomes increasingly difficult to control once affected by wind, waves, or current.
Traditional cleanup methods are still widely used, including absorbent materials, manual recovery, and intermittent mechanical systems. While practical in certain situations, these approaches often show clear limitations in dynamic water conditions. Collection speed can be slow, performance may vary, and continuous operation is difficult to sustain over long periods.
What can DEYUAN do in response?
In emergency spill scenarios, these limitations become more critical. Response time is often constrained by deployment and handling requirements, while recovery capacity may not keep pace with the rate at which oil spreads across the water surface. As a result, maintaining stable and effective control of contaminated areas becomes increasingly challenging.
This ongoing gap between rapid surface spreading and limited recovery capability highlights the need for more continuous and responsive solutions. DEYUAN addresses this demand by developing equipment designed to support faster response and more stable surface oil collection in demanding marine and industrial environments.
How does the system operate on the water surface?
--Buoyancy support
The unit floats on the water surface through its buoyant structure. It rises and falls with water level changes, ensuring the weir remains close to the oil layer under different conditions.
--Gravity separation
The weir opening is automatically positioned between the oil layer and the water layer. Due to density differences, floating oil flows over the weir into the collection chamber under gravity, achieving preliminary oil-water separation.
--Transfer and recovery
The collected oil-water mixture is temporarily stored in the chamber and then pumped through an oil-resistant pipeline to an external storage tank by the hydraulic power system, enabling continuous recovery operation.
--Dynamic adjustment
Weir height can be adjusted according to oil thickness and wave conditions. This helps maintain recovery efficiency while minimizing water content in the collected oil and improving overall separation quality.
What is weir skimmer built from&key parameters?
The system is composed of the following key parts:
*304 stainless steel skimming head
*Hydraulic power unit (KAMA diesel engine)
*Hydraulic hoses
*Oil transfer hoses
*Hose reel frame

Key Technical Parameters:
Item | Specification |
Recovery capacity | 15 m³/h |
Oil recovery efficiency | 70% |
Weir submergence depth | 30–60 cm |
Power unit output | 6 kW (KAMA diesel engine) |
Pump suction lift | 6 m |
Hydraulic working pressure | 5 MPa |

What are the key advantages of Weir Skimmer?
--Continuous surface collection
The skimmer operates without interruption, enabling steady removal of floating oil across wide areas, especially in active spill scenarios.
--Responsive to water movement
It maintains effective contact with the oil layer even when waves rise, currents shift, or water levels fluctuate, ensuring stable performance in changing conditions.
--Ready for multiple environments
From offshore spill events to busy harbor waters and industrial treatment tanks, the system adapts to different operating conditions without complex adjustments.
--Built for harsh conditions
Corrosion-resistant construction allows long-term use in saltwater and industrial environments where durability is essential.
--System flexibility
It can be paired with different pumping setups, allowing integration into existing oil recovery or wastewater treatment systems.
Where can the Weir Skimmer be used?
The equipment is widely used in environments where oil spill recovery is required, including:
*Ports and harbors
*Oil terminals and berths
*Rivers and lakes
*Shipyards and ship-breaking facilities
*Oil and gas industry sites
*Chemical plants
*Power stations
Wastewater treatment facilities
Delivery example-SY15 Skimmer
SY15 Weir Skimmer was recently delivered to Cat Lai Port in Vietnam for on-site commissioning and trial operation under active harbor conditions, including vessel traffic and variable surface movement. The unit was deployed along the quay area for practical testing in a typical port-side environment with floating oil presence.
During operation, DEYUAN’s weir skimmer showed stable performance and smooth handling in continuous surface recovery tasks. Customer highly recognized the delivery quality and stated that system was “very professional, with excellent product execution and reliable build quality,” and also indicated plans for further cooperation on upcoming projects with us.
As a professional supplier, DEYUAN supports each delivery with a complete technical and quality documentation package, including inspection reports, mill certificates, and a full operation and maintenance manual, ensuring traceability, compliance, and smooth field operation from installation to long-term use.
