Product Introduction:

H44-61 is a two-pack, modified epoxy anticorrosive coating, specifically engineered to provide superior corrosion protection for marine structures in the most demanding environments. This high-build formulation delivers exceptional barrier protection against seawater ingress, making it ideal for underwater areas and ballast tanks where long-term durability is critical. The coating is suitable for use with both impressed current and sacrificial anode cathodic protection systems, ensuring compatibility with modern corrosion control strategies. With a low VOC content of less than 255 g/L, it meets stringent environmental standards while maintaining outstanding performance. One of its key advantages is the ability to be applied at low temperatures, enabling year-round construction and maintenance schedules. The semi-gloss finish provides an attractive appearance while the high solids content allows for thick film builds in a single coat, reducing application time and labor costs. This versatile product is suitable for newbuilding, as well as maintenance and repair operations, offering reliable protection for vessel hulls and internal compartments.


This two-pack product is supplied with a mix ratio of 4.7:1 by volume (7.1:1 by mass). It dries to a semi-gloss finish with a high volume solids content of 70% ± 2%. For application, airless spray is recommended using a tip size of 0.43–0.69 mm and an output pressure of ≥17 MPa; air spray is also suitable with a tip size of 1.8–2.2 mm and pressure ≥0.4 MPa. Brush or roller application is limited to small touch-up areas only. Thinning is not recommended for routine use—if absolutely necessary, HX-501 may be added at a maximum of 5% by volume; HX-501 is also used as the equipment cleaner. No induction period is required. For storage, keep the product in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, protected from sunlight, heat, and open flames, with containers tightly sealed. Shelf life is 12 months minimum at 25°C (subject to re-inspection thereafter). Packaging: Part A is supplied as 25 kg / 16.5 L in a 20 L container; Part B is 3.5 kg / 3.5 L in a 6 L container. Flash point: >31°C for Part A, Part B, and mixed paint.

Surface Preparation:

All surfaces must be cleaned with high-pressure fresh water or fresh water wash, followed by solvent cleaning per SSPC-SP1 to remove all oil, grease, soluble contaminants, and other foreign matter. The surface to be coated must be clean, dry, and free from contamination.


For Newbuilding:

Remove weld spatter and smooth weld seams and sharp edges. Surfaces should be blast cleaned to Sa2.5 (GB/T 8923.1-2011). Weld seam areas may be cleaned to St3 (GB/T 8923.1-2011) using power tools. H44-61 should be applied promptly after blasting, before any oxidation occurs. If oxidation has developed, the affected area must be re-blasted to the specified standard.


For Repair / Onboard Maintenance:

Repair areas should be cleaned to P St3 (GB/T 8923.2-2008) by mechanical methods, or to P Sa2.5 (GB/T 8923.2-2008) by abrasive blasting. The area immediately surrounding the repair should be abraded to provide a key for subsequent coating application, and overlap areas should be kept to a minimum.


Application Limitations:

1.This product will not cure adequately below -5°C. For maximum performance, the ambient curing temperature should be above 5°C.


2.Do not apply when ambient relative humidity exceeds 85%.


3.The substrate temperature must be at least 3°C above the dew point at all times during application.


4.Like all epoxy-based coatings, H44-61 will exhibit chalking (surface powdering) upon prolonged UV exposure.


5.Drying times and overcoating intervals may vary according to actual site conditions.


6.Avoid prolonged inhalation of solvent vapors and paint mist. Prevent skin and eye contact. Ensure adequate ventilation and take fire-prevention measures during application.
