BS43-91 Marine Recoatable Polyurethane Finish
Product Description
BS43-91 Marine Recoatable Polyurethane Finish
Product Introduction:
BS43-91 BS43-91 Recoatable Polyurethane Finish is a two-component aliphatic polyurethane finish, designed as a high-performance decorative topcoat for marine applications. It delivers excellent durability, outstanding gloss retention, and long-term recoatability, making it an ideal choice for newbuilding, maintenance, repair, and onboard maintenance projects.
Key Features:
1.Long-Term Recoatability: The coating can be directly overcoated onto aged 725-BS43-91 surfaces after proper cleaning, provided the old film remains intact and firmly adhered.
2.High Solids Content: With a volume solids of 60% ± 2%, it ensures high film build and efficient coverage.
3.Low VOC: VOC content is less than 390 g/L, meeting modern environmental requirements.
4.Versatile Application: Suitable for airless spray (tip size 0.38–0.53 mm), conventional spray (tip size 2.0–3.0 mm), and brush/roller application for small areas.
5.Fast Drying: Dries quickly across a wide temperature range (from -5°C to 35°C), with pot life varying from 8 hours (at -5°C) to 4 hours (at 35°C).
Film Thickness & Theoretical Coverage:
| Parameter | Minimum | Standard | Maximum |
| Dry Film Thickness (DFT) | 30 μm | 40 μm | 80 μm |
| Wet Film Thickness (WFT) | 50 μm | 67 μm | 133 μm |
| Theoretical Coverage | 20 m²/L | 15 m²/L | 7.5 m²/L |
Recommended Use:
This finish is specifically formulated for above-water areas on vessels. It performs exceptionally well as a cosmetic and protective layer over recommended primer systems. For repair work, damaged areas should be prepared to St3 standard and spot-primed before full coating application.
Surface Preparation & Application:
*Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from oil, grease, and soluble contaminants (per SSPC-SP1).
*High-pressure fresh water washing is recommended before overcoating.
*Apply when surface temperature is at least 3°C above dew point and relative humidity is below 85%.
Limitations:
*Not recommended for immersed/underwater service.
*Brush/roller application may require two coats for uniform coverage, especially over dark primers.
*Drying and overcoating intervals may vary with on-site environmental conditions.
*Avoiding absorb the solvent steam and paint steam for long time. Skin and eyes must avoid contacting the paint. Pay attention to ventilate and fireproof when applying.
