C43-1 Marine Alkyd Finish
Product Description
C43-1 Marine Alkyd Finish
Product Introduction:
C43-1 Marine Alkyd Finish is a single-component alkyd resin finish, formulated as a high-quality decorative topcoat for marine applications. It provides a tough, glossy cosmetic finish with good weathering resistance, making it an ideal choice for newbuilding, maintenance, repair, and onboard maintenance projects.
Key Features:
1.Single-Component Convenience: Ready-to-use one-pack system – no mixing required, easy to apply and handle.
2.Fire Safety Certified: Approved by China Classification Society (CCS) with low spread of flame certification (IMO FTPC Part 2 & 5).
3.High Solids Content: Volume solids of 50% ± 3%, ensuring efficient film build and coverage.
4.Low VOC: VOC content less than 420 g/L, meeting environmental compliance standards.
5.Versatile Application: Suitable for airless spray (tip size 0.38–0.53 mm, pressure ≥17 MPa), conventional spray (tip size 2.0–3.0 mm, pressure ≥0.4 MPa), and brush/roller for small areas.
6.Fast Drying: Dries within a wide temperature range (from -5°C to 35°C), with touch dry times from 6 hours (at -5°C) down to 0.5 hour (at 35°C).
Film Thickness & Theoretical Coverage:
| Parameter | Minimum | Standard | Maximum |
| Dry Film Thickness (DFT) | 30 μm | 40 μm | 80 μm |
| Wet Film Thickness (WFT) | 60 μm | 80 μm | 160 μm |
| Theoretical Coverage | 16.7 m²/L | 12.5 m²/L | 6.2 m²/L |
Recommended Use:
This finish is specifically formulated for above-water areas on vessels. It performs effectively as a decorative and protective layer over recommended primer systems. For repair work, damaged areas should be prepared to St3 standard and spot-primed before full coating application.
Surface Preparation & Application:
*Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from oil, grease, and soluble contaminants (per SSPC-SP1).
*High-pressure fresh water washing is recommended before overcoating.
*Apply when surface temperature is at least 3°C above dew point and relative humidity is below 85%.
Overcoating Data:
C43-1 can be applied directly over aged C43-1 coatings, provided the old film remains intact and firmly adhered. Loose or flaking coatings should be removed back to a firm edge, and an appropriate primer should be used to repair the area before full coat application. Overcoating intervals vary by temperature (see technical datasheet for details).
Limitations:
*Not suitable for immersed/underwater service.
*Drying and overcoating intervals may vary with on-site environmental conditions.
*Avoiding absorb the solvent steam and paint steam for long time. Skin and eyes must avoid contacting the paint. Pay attention to ventilate and fireproof when applying.
Storage & Packaging:
*Shelf life: 12 months minimum at 25°C (subject to re-inspection thereafter).
*Packaging: 22 kg / 18 L in a 20 L container.
*Flash point: > 28°C.
