C53-1 Marine Alkyd Primer

Product Description

C53-1 Marine Alkyd Primer

Product Introduction:

C53-1 Marine Alkyd Primer is a quick-drying, single-component alkyd primer, formulated as a high-performance anti-corrosive primer for marine applications. It provides excellent rust prevention and strong adhesion to steel substrates, making it an ideal choice for newbuilding, maintenance, repair, and onboard maintenance projects.

Key Features:

1.Single-Component Convenience: Ready-to-use one-pack system – no mixing required, easy to apply and handle.

2.Unlimited Overcoating Interval: No maximum overcoating time limit, offering maximum flexibility for construction scheduling.

3.High Solids Content: Volume solids of 55% ± 2%, ensuring high film build and efficient coverage.

4.Low VOC: VOC content less than 390 g/L, meeting environmental compliance standards.

5.Versatile Application: Suitable for airless spray (tip size 0.38–0.53 mm, pressure ≥17 MPa), conventional spray (tip size 2.0–3.0 mm, pressure ≥0.4 MPa), and brush/roller for small areas.

6.Matt Finish: Low-gloss surface provides an ideal base for subsequent topcoat application.

Recommended Use:

This primer is specifically formulated for above-water areas on vessels. It performs effectively as a rust-inhibitive primer under recommended topcoat systems. For newbuilding, surfaces should be blast cleaned to Sa2.5 (GB/T 8923.1-2011); for repair work, damaged areas should be prepared to P St3 or P Sa2.5 standard.

Surface Preparation & Application:

1.Remove weld spatter and smooth weld seams and sharp edges.

2.Blast clean to Sa2.5 (GB/T 8923.1-2011) for newbuilding; power tool cleaning to St3 is acceptable for weld seams.

3.Apply C53-1 before oxidation occurs on the blasted surface.

4.For repair work, clean to P St3 by mechanical method or P Sa2.5 by abrasive blasting (GB/T 8923.2-2008).

5.Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from oil, grease, and soluble contaminants (per SSPC-SP1).

6.Apply when surface temperature is at least 3°C above dew point and relative humidity is below 85%.

Overcoating Data:

C53-1 can be overcoated with C43-1 Alkyd Finish or other compatible topcoats. There is no maximum overcoating interval, allowing for flexible project timelines. Minimum overcoating intervals vary by temperature (see technical datasheet for details).

Limitations:

*Drying and overcoating intervals may vary with on-site environmental conditions.

*Avoiding absorb the solvent steam and paint steam for long time. Skin and eyes must avoid contacting the paint. Pay attention to ventilate and fireproof when applying.

Storage & Packaging:

*Shelf life: 12 months minimum at 25°C (subject to re-inspection thereafter).

*Packaging: 26.5 kg / 18 L in a 20 L container (available in Iron Red and Silver Red).

*Flash point: > 28°C.
