Product Introduction:

S52-60 is a two‑pack aliphatic acrylic polyurethane finish that delivers outstanding durability, weather resistance, and long‑term recoatability. It is specifically formulated to provide a tough, decorative topcoat that maintains its gloss and colour retention even under severe environmental conditions. The product has passed the stringent NORSOK M501 test, making it a trusted choice for demanding offshore and industrial applications. With a high volume solids content and a VOC level below 250 g/L, it combines high performance with environmental compliance. This finish is available in a wide range of colours to suit aesthetic and identification requirements.


The coating has a volume solids content of 72% ± 2% and dries to a high‑gloss finish. Its aliphatic polyurethane chemistry ensures superior resistance to UV degradation, chalking, and chemical attack, while maintaining flexibility and adhesion over time. The product offers excellent durability and is suitable for both newbuilding and maintenance applications.


Intended Uses:

S52-60 is designed as a high‑quality decorative finish for offshore structures, petrochemical plants, chemical plants, power stations, bridges, industrial buildings, and marine engineering projects. It provides excellent protection and appearance for steel structures exposed to atmospheric corrosion.


Mixing And Application:

The product is supplied with a mix ratio of 5:1 by volume (10:1 by mass). No induction period is required. For large‑scale work, airless spray is recommended, using a tip size of 0.38–0.53 mm and an output pressure of at least 17 MPa. Air spraying is also suitable, with a tip size of 2.0–3.0 mm and a minimum pressure of 0.4 MPa. Brush or roller application is acceptable only for small touch‑up areas. Thinner (BX‑28) is generally not recommended; if absolutely necessary, it should not exceed 5% of the total volume. Equipment cleaning should be done with BX‑28.

Surface Preparation:

All surfaces to be coated must be clean, dry, and free from contamination. S52-60 should be applied over a recommended primer coating system. The primer surface must be dry and free from all contaminants, and S52-60 must be applied within the specified overcoating intervals (consult the relevant primer data sheet). Areas of breakdown or damage should be prepared to the specified standard (e.g., Sa2.5 by abrasive blasting or power tool cleaning) and patch primed before applying S52-60. For repair work, S52-60 may be applied directly over aged S52-60 coatings, provided the existing coating is intact, dry, and firmly adhering. Loose or flaking coatings should be removed back to a firm edge, and an appropriate primer should be used to repair the area before the full coat is applied.


Application Limitations:

This product is not recommended for use in immersed or submerged conditions. When applying S52-60 by brush or roller, some colours may require two coats to achieve uniform coverage, especially when applied over dark undercoats. Application should only proceed when relative humidity is below 85% and the substrate temperature is at least 3°C above the dew point. Avoid prolonged inhalation of solvent vapours and paint mist, and prevent skin/eye contact. Adequate ventilation and fire precautions must be maintained during use.


Storage And Packaging:

Store in a cool, dry, well‑ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and open flames. Containers must remain tightly closed. Shelf life is a minimum of 12 months at 25°C (subject to re‑inspection). Packaging: Part A – 23 kg / 17.5 L in a 20 L container; Part B – 2.3 kg / 2.5 L in a 6 L container. Flash point: Part A >31°C, Part B >28°C, mixed paint >31°C.
