WE47-06 Marine Waterborne Inorganic Zinc Silicate Shop Primer

Product Description

WE47-06 Marine Waterborne Inorganic Zinc Silicate Shop Primer

Product Introduction:

WE47-06 is a two-pack, waterborne, self-curing inorganic zinc silicate primer specifically developed for the temporary protection of steel plates during shipbuilding and heavy fabrication processes. As a shop primer, it provides excellent anti-corrosion protection to blasted steel surfaces immediately after surface preparation, effectively preventing flash rusting and maintaining surface integrity through subsequent manufacturing stages. Its advanced waterborne formulation offers extremely low VOC content, making it an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional solvent-borne shop primers without compromising on mechanical resistance or weldability. The cured film exhibits outstanding heat resistance, abrasion resistance, and compatibility with most subsequent coating systems, ensuring seamless integration into multi-coat protective schemes. With a volume solids content of 45% ± 2%, a matt finish, and a mix ratio of 1.5 : 1 by mass (Part A to Part B), this product delivers consistent and reliable application performance. Combined with rapid drying characteristics and easy dilution with tap water, WE47-06 significantly enhances production line efficiency while reducing solvent emissions and fire hazards. This product is particularly suited for fully automated blasting and priming lines where high throughput and consistent quality are paramount.

Surface Preparation:

Steel surfaces must be prepared to Sa2.5 grade (GB/T 8923.1-2011) using automatic blasting or spraying equipment. A mixture of angular steel grit (particle size 0.6–1.0 mm) and steel shot (particle size 0.6–1.4 mm) is normally used to achieve an appropriate surface profile. WE47-06 should be applied before any oxidation occurs on the prepared steel. If oxidation has already taken place, the affected areas must be re-blasted to the specified Sa2.5 standard.

Method Of Application:

*Airless Spray (Recommended): Tip size 0.38–0.53 mm, output pressure ≥15 MPa.

*Air Spray: Tip size 1.5–2.0 mm, output pressure ≥0.4 MPa.

*Brush / Roller: Not recommended.

Mixing Instructions:

Under continuous mechanical stirring, slowly add Part A (powder component) into Part B (liquid component). The reverse addition method (adding Part B into Part A) must be strictly avoided. The mixed product must be used within its pot life. To prevent sedimentation, a mixing plant is recommended for production line applications.

Thinner And Cleaner:

Both thinning and equipment cleaning should be done using clean tap water. It is important to note that solvent-based coating spraying equipment should not be used for this product.

Storage And Shelf Life:

Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, protected from direct sunlight, fire, and heat sources. Containers must remain tightly sealed. At 25℃, Part A has a minimum shelf life of 12 months, and Part B has a minimum shelf life of 6 months (subject to re-inspection after these periods).

Limitations:

*Drying times are dependent on substrate temperature, ambient humidity, and ventilation conditions.

*WE47-06 is not recommended for use as a touch-up primer after fabrication.

*Avoid prolonged inhalation of paint spray. Prevent skin and eye contact. Ensure adequate ventilation during application.
