Type C Rock Wool Wall Panel
Product Introduction:
The Type C Rock Wool Wall Panel is a cost-effective, non-structural interior partition panel specifically designed for marine and offshore applications where fire resistance is required but the stringent A-class rating of Type A or Type B panels is not mandatory. Designed to meet SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) requirements and IMO FTP Code Part 3 for C-class divisions, this panel provides reliable fire protection, thermal insulation, and acoustic performance for accommodation areas, corridors, offices, and other low-risk interior spaces on ships, offshore platforms, and marine vessels.
Type C divisions are defined as divisions constructed of approved non-combustible materials that do not have specific fire integrity or temperature rise requirements (unlike Type A or B). However, Type C panels must still pass non-combustibility tests and meet surface flammability standards. The Type C Rock Wool Wall Panel features a high-density rock wool core bonded to one or both sides with galvanized steel facers (typically 0.4–0.5 mm) or optional decorative finishes such as PVC laminate, wood grain print, or pre-coated paint.
Because Type C panels are not required to pass the hose stream test or temperature rise limits required for A/B class divisions, they offer a more economical and lighter-weight alternative while still providing excellent fire resistance, sound absorption, and thermal insulation. Typical applications include non-fire-rated bulkheads, cabin partitions, ceiling linings, furniture components, and interior wall cladding on cruise ships, ferries, cargo vessels, and offshore accommodation modules.
The panel is certified by major classification societies including DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, and CCS for C-class applications, and complies with IMO FTP Code Part 1 (Non-combustibility) and Part 5 (Surface flammability) .
