Class B15 Type C High Sound Reduction Wall Panel
Product Introduction:
The Type C High Sound Reduction Wall Panel is a lightweight, cost-effective acoustic barrier panel designed for marine and offshore applications where blocking sound transmission between spaces is critical, but A-class or B-class fire ratings are not mandatory. Compliant with SOLAS requirements and IMO FTP Code Part 3 for C-class divisions, this panel significantly reduces noise transfer through walls, ensuring privacy and comfort in accommodation areas, cabins, offices, and corridors on cruise ships, ferries, cargo vessels, and offshore platforms.
Unlike sound absorbing panels that reduce echo within a room, this high sound reduction panel is designed to block sound from passing through from one side to the other. It features a high-density rock wool core sandwiched between two galvanized steel facers (Type C configuration), creating a mass-air-mass barrier that effectively attenuates airborne noise such as conversations, footsteps, and machinery hum.
The panel achieves a weighted sound reduction index (Rw) of 32–40 dB, depending on thickness, making it suitable for private cabins, meeting rooms, and other spaces requiring speech privacy. The rock wool core is non-combustible (IMO FTP Code Part 1) and the surface meets Class 1 or 2 surface flammability (IMO FTP Code Part 5).
Because Type C panels do not require hose stream testing or strict temperature rise limits required for Type A/B divisions, they offer a more economical and lighter alternative while still delivering excellent sound insulation. The panel is certified by major classification societies including DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, and Bureau Veritas.
