Product Introduction:
The Shipboard Type C Aluminum Honeycomb Wall Panel is a lightweight, high-strength interior partition panel specifically designed for marine applications where A-class or B-class fire ratings are not mandatory. Compliant with SOLAS requirements and IMO FTP Code Part 3 for C-class divisions, this panel is ideal for non-fire-rated bulkheads, cabin partitions, ceilings, and furniture on cruise ships, ferries, yachts, cargo vessels, and offshore accommodation modules.
The panel features a corrosion-resistant aluminum honeycomb core bonded between thin aluminum or galvanized steel facers (Type C lightweight configuration). The hexagonal honeycomb structure provides exceptional rigidity and flatness at a fraction of the weight of traditional rock wool or solid panels. This makes it an excellent choice for applications where weight reduction is a priority but fire resistance requirements are limited to non-combustibility and surface flammability standards.
The aluminum honeycomb core is non-combustible (IMO FTP Code Part 1) and the panel surface meets Class 1 or 2 surface flammability (IMO FTP Code Part 5). Unlike Type A aluminum honeycomb panels, Type C versions use thinner facers (0.3–0.5 mm) and are not required to pass hose stream or temperature rise tests, resulting in significant weight savings and lower cost.
Typical applications include interior cabin partitions, wardrobe doors, ceiling panels, lightweight bulkheads, and marine furniture where high strength-to-weight ratio is desired. The panel is certified by major classification societies including DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, and Bureau Veritas for C-class marine interior use.
