6×K25Fi Class Compacted Strand Wire Rope

Product Description

6×K25Fi Class Compacted Strand Wire Rope

Product Introduction:

The 6×K25Fi Class wire rope features a 6-strand Filler (Fi) construction, with each strand composed of 25 wires arranged in a precise configuration: 1 + 6 + 6F + 12.

The "Fi" (Filler) designation indicates that finer filler wires are positioned between the inner and outer wire layers – specifically, the same number of filler wires as the inner layer – creating a dense, stable strand structure. This filler wire design is a hallmark of line-contact wire rope, where adjacent wires in the strand contact each other along lines rather than at points, significantly improving structural integrity and load distribution.

The Rope Is Available With Two Core Options:

*FC (Fibre Core) – Natural or synthetic fiber core providing enhanced internal lubrication, flexibility, and shock absorption

*IWRC (Independent Wire Rope Core) – Steel wire core delivering higher breaking loads, reduced stretch, and superior resistance to crushing and heat

The compacting process – achieved through specialized die-drawing or roller-compacting – flattens and densifies the outer wires of each strand, increasing the metallic cross-sectional area and creating a smoother, more uniform surface. This results in a rope with superior density, reduced internal friction, and enhanced performance characteristics.

Core Advantages:

1. Optimal Balance of Flexibility & Wear Resistance

The 6×K25Fi Filler construction provides the most favorable combination of flexibility and abrasion resistance within its class. The filler wires support the strand structure, imparting stability while maintaining excellent bending fatigue performance.

2. Superior Abrasion Resistance

The compacted strand design, combined with the filler wire configuration, creates a dense outer surface that significantly resists wear. Field data indicates abrasion resistance improves by up to 20% compared to conventional non-compacted ropes. Additionally, the larger outer wire size in 6×K25Fi construction (compared to 6×36) provides enhanced resistance to abrasive wear.

3. Exceptional Crushing Resistance

The compacted strand structure and IWRC option provide outstanding resistance to deformation under high radial loads, making it ideal for multi-layer drum winding and high-tension applications.

4. Increased Breaking Load

The compaction process increases the metallic cross-sectional area, delivering a substantially higher breaking load compared to conventional non-compacted ropes of the same diameter.

5. Extended Service Life

With line-contact between wires, stable strand geometry, reduced internal friction, and superior fatigue resistance, the 6×K25Fi Class compacted rope delivers a service life nearly twice that of point-contact steel wire ropes.

6. Smooth Surface & Reduced Equipment Wear

The compacted, smooth outer surface increases the contact area with drums and sheaves, significantly reducing wear on both the rope and the equipment.

7. Excellent Spooling Characteristics

The uniform, smooth surface ensures superior spooling on drums, reducing the risk of crushing and uneven layering during multi-layer winding.

8. Corrosion Resistance Options

Available in both bright (ungalvanized) and hot-dip galvanized finishes, with galvanization providing enhanced corrosion protection for extended exposure to saltwater marine environments.
