Product Description
C42-1 Marine Alkyd Deck Paint
Product Introduction:
C42-1 is a single-pack, quick-drying alkyd-based decorative finish coat, specially formulated for marine deck applications above the waterline. It offers a glossy aesthetic appearance while providing reliable protection in both newbuilding and maintenance scenarios. This coating is designed with a low VOC content (less than 420 g/L), making it compliant with modern environmental regulations. Its fast-drying nature allows for efficient application schedules, and it can be used for initial construction, routine repair, or onboard touch-up work. The paint forms a hard, durable film that resists weathering and mechanical wear typical of deck traffic, ensuring long-lasting color and gloss retention under marine conditions.
This single-pack, gloss-finish coating features a volume solids content of 50% ± 3% and requires no on-site mixing. For application, airless spray is the preferred method (with nozzle size and output pressure adjustable to suit equipment), while air spray is also acceptable; brush or roller application should be limited to small-area touch-ups only. Thinning is not recommended for general use—if absolutely necessary, CX-101 may be added at no more than 5% by volume, and the same product serves as the equipment cleaner. No induction period is required.
For storage, keep the product in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, protected from direct sunlight, heat, and open flames, with containers tightly closed at all times. Shelf life is a minimum of 12 months at 25°C, after which re-inspection is recommended. The paint is supplied in 20 L containers holding 22 kg (net volume 18 L), and has a flash point above 28°C.
Intended Uses:
*As a cosmetic finish coat for all areas above the waterline.
*Suitable for newbuilding projects, major refurbishment, repair, and onboard maintenance.

Surface Preparation:
All surfaces must be cleaned with high-pressure fresh water or plain fresh water, followed by solvent cleaning per SSPC-SP1 to remove all oil, grease, soluble contaminants, and other foreign matter. The surface to be coated must be clean, dry, and free from any contamination.
For Newbuilding / Major Refurbishment:
C42-1 should be applied over a recommended primer coating system. The primer surface must be clean, dry, and uncontaminated, and the topcoat must be applied within the specified overcoating window (refer to the relevant product data sheet). Damaged or broken areas should be prepared to at least St3 standard and primed before applying C42-1.
For Repair / Onboard Maintenance:
C42-1 can be applied over a recommended primer system following the same preparation and overcoating rules as for newbuilding. Alternatively, C42-1 may be applied directly over aged C42-1 coatings, provided the old film is intact and firmly adherent. Loose or flaking paint must be removed back to a sound edge, and the area should be repaired with a suitable primer before the full topcoat is applied.
Application Limitations:
*Do not apply when ambient relative humidity exceeds 85%.
*The substrate temperature must be at least 3°C above the dew point at all times during application.
*Avoid prolonged inhalation of solvent vapors and paint mist. Prevent skin and eye contact. Ensure adequate ventilation and take fire-prevention measures during application.
