Product Description

DG15 Rotor Air Horn

Product Introduction

This fog whistle is a fog navigation device that uses compressed air to drive a rotor at high speed to produce sound. It is suitable for all types of ships navigating in fog. This fog whistle emits a powerful and continuous loud sound (i.e., a whistle blast), serving as a means to prevent ship collisions and ensure safe navigation in fog.

This fog whistle has the advantages of small size, light weight, compact structure, and loud sound.

Structural principles

The entire fog whistle mainly consists of the main body, horn body, stator, rotor, guide seat, and control valve. One end of the control valve connects to the air source, and the other end connects to the fog whistle's air inlet. When the air source pressure reaches the required working pressure, pulling the handle opens the valve, allowing air to quickly enter the main body. This air then propels the rotor at high speed through elongated holes on the stator's circumference, producing a loud sound. The sound is then propagated through the guide seat and horn body.

The duration of the sound signal is controlled by pulling the control lever. Most parts of the whistle are made of corrosion-resistant copper alloy, making them sturdy and durable.

Installation, Use, and Maintenance

The whistle can be installed in unobstructed locations such as the foremast, above the bridge, or in front of the smokestack.

The installation direction is vertical, meaning the air inlet of the whistle faces downwards, and the horn faces forward. During installation, the air supply pipe should have as few bends as possible and be securely connected to the control valve. The diameter of the air supply pipe should match the diameter of the whistle.

The whistle tone and control valve are pre-adjusted at the factory and generally do not require further adjustment during use.

If the sound deteriorates after prolonged use, it is likely due to wear between the steel ball and the end of the shaft, causing axial movement of the rotor. In this case, the horn body can be removed, and the support screws adjusted to ensure proper rotor tightness. The whistle should then resume its sound.

To maintain the required working pressure for the whistle at all times, the air supply should be kept constant.

Applications

Ideal for installation on cargo ships, tankers, fishing vessels, tugboats, and offshore supply vessels. Serves as a primary sound-signaling appliance for navigation in restricted visibility and as a critical component of the ship's safety and collision avoidance system.
