Accommodation Pilot Ladders Introduction
An embarkation ladder, often also referred to as a pilot ladder or accommodation pilot ladder,is a highly specialized form of rope ladder, typically used on board cargo vessels for the purposes of embarking and disembarking pilots. In case of high freeboard (more than 9m), the pilot ladder shall be combined with an accommodation ladder.
Accommodation Pilot Ladders construction
Bottom 4 rubber steps: made of resilient synthetic raw material or rubber.
Aluminium Steps: the width of step is no less than 115mm, and thickness no less than 35mm
Ropes: should be mold-resistant manila or heat-treated polyester rope with polypropylene core and should not be covered. Ropes shall be of a diameter which is no less than 57mm in circumference, and have a braking strength more than 24KN.
Spreader : shall have the same specifications as normal steps, but length of spreader shall not be less than 1.8 meters.
Fastening Hardware: for rope and steps must be corrosion resistant, or made of similar material treated corrosion resistance.
