6×103 Class Round Strand Wire Rope
Product Description
6×103 Class Round Strand Wire Rope
Product Introduction:
Engineered for the most demanding heavy-lift and offshore applications, our 6×103 Class Round Strand Wire Rope (construction code 6×103FSNS) represents the pinnacle of large-diameter wire rope technology. Manufactured in strict compliance with GB/T 20067-2006 — the Chinese national standard for large diameter steel wire ropes covering diameters from 60 mm to 190 mm— this rope is specifically designed for large-scale hoisting, shipbuilding, offshore installations, marine salvage, and heavy industrial lifting operations.
The 6×103FSNS construction features a sophisticated multi-stage compound-laid strand design with a layered configuration of (1+7+7F+14+14-30+30)— comprising 103 individual wires per strand arranged through an advanced compound twisting process. This F SNS (compound-laid non-slip) structure creates a combination of point and linear contact between wires, delivering exceptional fatigue resistance, superior crushing strength, and outstanding performance under heavy cyclic loads. Compared to conventional round-strand ropes, the 6×103FSNS offers significantly enhanced breaking strength, improved flexibility, and excellent resistance to abrasion and deformation — making it particularly suitable for multi-layer drum winding and severe bending over sheaves.
Two core configurations are available to match specific operational requirements:
*FC (Fiber Core) – provides natural elasticity and shock absorption, reducing peak dynamic loads and extending service life in moderate to heavy-duty cycles. The fiber core offers superior flexibility for bending over sheaves and drums.
*IWR (Independent Wire Rope Core) – delivers a higher metallic cross-sectional area, superior crush resistance, and maximum breaking strength. This configuration is the preferred choice for extreme heavy-lift operations, high-frequency usage, and applications where maximum tensile capacity is critical.

The rope is available in diameters ranging from 60 mm to 120 mm (and up to 190 mm upon request), with tensile strength grades of 1670, 1770, 1870, and 1960 MPa. Approximate weights range from 1,370 kg/100m (60 mm, FC) to 6,260 kg/100m (120 mm, IWR). At the highest grade (1960 MPa), a 120 mm diameter IWR rope achieves a minimum breaking load of 9,770 kN — a testament to the extraordinary strength-to-weight ratio of this advanced construction. Actual weight tolerance is controlled within ±6% as per GB/T 20067 requirements.
Applications are extensive and include: large hoisting cranes for shipbuilding and heavy industry, ship-to-ship mooring and towing, offshore platforms and floating production units, aerial cableways, dredging operations, and underwater salvage missions. The rope is available with various surface treatments — including bright, galvanized, and specially lubricated finishes — and can be customized to meet specific customer requirements. Certifications from leading classification societies including API-9A, ISO 9001, CCS, ABS, and CE are available upon request, ensuring full traceability and quality assurance for critical marine applications.
With its advanced FSNS strand geometry, robust metallic core option, and adherence to the most stringent international standards, the 6×103 Class Round Strand Wire Rope is the definitive choice for marine and heavy-industry professionals who demand uncompromising performance, durability, and safety in the world's most challenging operating environments.
