Product Description
SDS-4C/SDS-8C Wall Type Collection Unit
Product Introduction
The Marine Collection Unit is the intelligent sampling and filtration heart of a modern Sample Extraction Smoke Detection System (SESDS), engineered to provide centralized, reliable, and low-maintenance protection for critical and unmanned spaces onboard. Acting as the primary interface between the aspirating pipe network and the sensitive detection chamber, this unit ensures only clean, representative air samples are analyzed for the earliest possible fire warning.
Constructed with robust, corrosion-resistant materials compliant with major marine classification society standards (such as DNV, ABS, LR), this unit is built for a 25-year service life in harsh environments. Its core function is to continuously draw air from multiple protected zones (engine rooms, cargo holds, machinery spaces) through a network of sampling pipes. The unit incorporates a multi-stage filtration system, typically including a coarse particulate pre-filter and a high-efficiency fine filter, which removes dust, oil mist, humidity, and other contaminants that could cause false alarms or damage the detector.
Featuring a modular and service-friendly design, the collection unit often integrates the system's aspiration fan and critical monitoring sensors. It provides continuous self-diagnostics, monitoring parameters like airflow velocity (to detect pipe breaches or blockages), filter condition, and vacuum pressure. This data is communicated locally and to the main fire alarm panel, enabling proactive maintenance and ensuring system integrity.
The key benefits of this integrated collection unit are maximum system uptime and reliability. By centralizing filtration and monitoring, it drastically reduces maintenance points compared to decentralized systems. It delivers ultra-early warning of incipient fire by enabling the use of extremely sensitive laser-based detectors, protecting valuable assets and crew safety. Its design ensures compliance with stringent safety codes (SOLAS, IMO), making it an indispensable component for any vessel prioritizing advanced fire safety.
