Product Description

Class B0 Type D Ceiling Panel

Product Introduction:

The Marine Class B0 Type D Ceiling Panel is a high-performance, non-combustible suspended ceiling panel specifically engineered for marine and offshore environments requiring enhanced fire protection with zero flame spread. Certified to B0 classification under the IMO FTP Code, this panel provides robust fire resistance with zero contribution to fire propagation while offering superior acoustic absorption, thermal insulation, and a seamless aesthetic finish. The Type D edge configuration is optimised for ceiling applications, enabling rapid installation, easy maintenance access, and a flush, professional appearance across accommodation areas, corridors, control rooms, and service spaces on vessels, yachts, and offshore platforms.

Key Features:

1.B0 Fire Performance (IMO Certified – Zero Flame Spread)

The panel meets the stringent requirements of IMO FTP Code Part 3 for B-class ceiling divisions. Key fire performance characteristics include:

*Zero continuous flame propagation on the exposed surface during the fire test (the defining feature of B0 classification)

*Prevents flame passage for the initial 30 minutes of fire exposure

*Limits temperature rise on the unexposed (upper) side to an average of 140°C (252°F) and a single point maximum of 225°C (437°F) within the first 30 minutes

*Non-combustible core ensures no flame spread, minimal smoke emission, and zero toxic gas release

*Provides critical evacuation time and prevents fire propagation through ceiling voids – the highest B-class ceiling protection available

2.Type D Edge Configuration – Optimised for Ceilings

Engineered with a specialised Type D joint (typically a concealed grid or drop-in design with rebated or beveled edges) that offers:

*Seamless, flush finish – creates a smooth, continuous ceiling surface with virtually invisible joints

*Quick drop-in installation – panels easily fit into a suspended T-grid or furring channel system without specialised tools

*Easy maintenance access – individual panels can be removed and reinstated without damage for access to pipes, cables, lighting, and HVAC systems above the ceiling

*Excellent load distribution – Type D edges evenly transfer panel weight to the supporting grid

*Airtight and smoke-tight – when combined with approved intumescent sealants or fire-rated gaskets

*Vibration resistant – secure fit prevents rattling under shipboard vibrations

3.High-Density Rock Wool Core

Manufactured from A-class non-combustible rock wool (stone wool) with superior properties:

*Density: Typically 120–150 kg/m³ (optimised for B0 ceiling applications)

*Melting point exceeding 1000°C (1832°F)

*Zero flame spread and negligible smoke development rating

*Thermal conductivity: ≤ 0.040 W/m·K – excellent insulation against heat gain from upper decks or engine rooms

*High acoustic absorption (NRC up to 0.95) – significantly reduces noise reverberation and improves speech clarity in cabins and corridors

*Hydrophobic treated – resists moisture, condensation, mould, and fungal growth in humid marine environments

*Rigid yet lightweight – easy to handle and install overhead (typical weight: 10–14 kg/m²)

4.Durable, Lightweight Steel Facings

Clad with corrosion-resistant steel facings (typically 0.4–0.5 mm pre-galvanised, stainless, or pre-coated steel) finished in marine-grade paint. Facings provide:

*Smooth, washable, hygienic surface (ideal for galleys, hospitals, dining areas, and passenger cabins)

*Excellent resistance to saline atmospheres, humidity, and UV exposure (for skylight areas)

*Optional micro-perforated facings with acoustic backing fabric for enhanced noise control

*Standard finish: High-reflectance white RAL 9010 (improves interior lighting efficiency) or custom RAL colours

Typical Applications:

*B0 class suspended ceilings in accommodation cabins, passenger lounges, and dining rooms on cruise ships, ferries, and yachts

*Corridors, lobbies, and stairwell enclosures – where zero flame spread is critical for escape routes

*Control rooms, navigation bridges, radio rooms, and switchgear rooms

*Hospital spaces, galleys, pantries, and food preparation areas (hygiene-critical)

*Offshore platform living quarters and administrative modules

*Service spaces, changing rooms, toilet compartments, and laundry rooms

*Ceilings in HVAC plant rooms and pump rooms (where condensation and corrosion resistance are critical)
