What's the difference between compressor air horn and electric air horn?

The international Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea stipulate that ships with a length of 12 meters or more shall be equipped with a horn; ships with a length of 20 meters or more shall be equipped with a horn in addition to a horn; ships with a length of 100 meters or more shall be equipped with a horn and a bell in addition to a horn and a bell. The tone and sound of the gong are not to be confused with the horn and bell. Horns, bells and gongs shall conform to the specifications set out in Appendix III of these Rules. Bells, gongs, or both may be replaced by other devices with the same sound characteristics as their respective devices, provided that they can at any time manually sound the specified sound.

The main technical data such as sound pressure level at 1/3 rd band level & sound frequency are fully are fully complied to the International Regulation for preventing Collision at Sea (COLREG)1972 and the regulation of Legal Inspection for Vessel at Sea issued by Chinese Vessel Inspection Bureau. The Electric Piston Whistle type HSD is reliable with good performance. It is equipped with a phase sequencer combined by a AC Solid State Relay with non-fire contactor and water, explosion & leakage proof, also the sound & light signal control in type WDK-2 for alarm & abandon ship, in order to meet the Rule 35, 36 of COLREG 1972 and SOLAS. All signals can be automatic, manual and remote control. Such equipment provides the electric piston whistle type HSD better functions, ensuring the navigation more safety, fully meeting the requirements of international vessel whistles. National patent has been applied for the product.

3.1 Compressor air horn:First through the air compressor to improve the air pressure, and stored in the gas tank, whistle through the pipeline to the compressed air to the whistle, the whistle work sound.

Electric air horn:Need air compressor, gas tank for air source, through the gas pipeline to the air flute.
