Marine Cargo Handling equipment

Marine cargo handling equipment is the special equipment for loading and unloading cargo on board ships.

The loading and unloading of liquid cargo utilizes the transport pump on board, and the bulk cargo can be transported by special conveyor belts, marine cranes or boom-type lifting equipment. For the loading and unloading of bags, boxes or large pieces of goods, boom-type lifting equipment is used.

The boom-type lifting equipment consists of a lifting boom, a lifting column (or stern), a steel cable, a pulley, a lifting ring, a boom seat, a hook and a crane.

The cargo boom is an important part of the boom-type lifting equipment and is a steel round-shaped long tube.

According to the size of the cargo, the boom is divided into two types: light boom (starting quantity less than 10 tons) and heavy lifting rod (starting quantity more than 10 tons).

Lightweight booms are usually placed in pairs at the ends of the cargo hatch of the ship so that both sides can load and unload cargo.

The heavy-duty boom is separately placed at the longitudinal center of one end of the corresponding cargo hatch. The quantity of heavy-duty booms can be up to 300 tons depending on the special requirements of the goods carried, such as ships transporting train locomotives.

A marine crane is a crane that integrally forms a lifting boom, a transmission, and a lifting machine, and is rotatable about an axis.

According to the different transmission modes, it is divided into electric and hydraulic. According to the way of use, it can be divided into rotary type, cantilever type and combined type.
