Types Of Marine Wire Ropes

Flexible wire rope: It is made of 6 strands of steel wire sandwiched with 1 strand of oil hemp core, and each strand of steel wire is also sandwiched with a fine oil hemp core.
Semi hard steel wire cable:
Semi flexible wire rope: It is made of 6 strands of steel wire sandwiched with 1 strand of hemp core in the middle.
Hard steel wire cable:
Hard steel wire rope is a steel wire rope made up of 6 strands of steel wire rope, with 1 strand of steel wire core sandwiched in the middle. There is no oil hemp core inside the steel wire rope.
Selection of Marine Wire Ropes
Soft steel wire cables are generally used for traction ropes, belt cables, cargo ropes, boat ropes, etc. It is characterized by the softest, light weight, easy to use, and the smallest strength among steel wire ropes. Common types include 6×24+7, 6×30+7, etc.
Semi-rigid steel wire ropes are generally used for cargo lifting ropes, boat lifting ropes, safety cables, towing ropes or mooring ropes. It is characterized by a large number of thin filaments, which are soft and easy to use. Commonly used types include 6×19+1, 6×37+1, etc.
Hard steel wire cables are generally used for support ropes such as masts and chimneys, and tow ropes and mooring ropes used with winches. It is characterized by high strength, corrosion resistance, wear resistance and long service life. Commonly used types include 7×7, 6×31+ (7×7), etc.
The Role Of Oil Hemp Core In Marine Steel Wire Ropes
(1) It can reduce internal friction of the steel wire rope, that is, when the steel wire rope is tensioned under force, the fiber rope core can act as a cushion;
(2) Can increase the flexibility of the steel wire rope, making it easy to operate and use;
(3) Due to the oil content in the fiber rope core, it can prevent internal corrosion of the steel wire rope;

Key Points For The Use And Maintenance Of Steel Wire Ropes
When twisting cables, the thin steel wire rope should be wound at least 5 times in the drum;
The stopping rope used in steel wire cables should use homogeneous stopping ropes;
During general mooring, the number of steel wire rope tie piles is at least 5 for large tie piles;
The inspection and maintenance period for marine steel wire cables is 3 months, and the key points of the inspection are:
corrosion, wire breakage, and oil content in the oil core of the cable. The key points of maintenance are: rust should be removed and oil should be applied, and those with broken wires exceeding the regulations should be replaced or replaced with new ones.
