Ship signal lights refer to lights configured in accordance with maritime collision avoidance regulations to indicate the dynamics or operating status of ships at night. Lamps that indicate the space occupied by the ship and its navigation status. It is a general term for masthead light, side light, stern light, towing light, all-round light and flashing light. 


Lights and shapes indicating the dynamic state of a ship

1. Ships on board with a length of more than 100 meters:

When moving on the water: left, red, starboard and green side lights, front and rear masthead lights, and stern lights should be displayed.

When not moving to the water: Front and rear masthead lights should be displayed. 


2. Anchored ships with a length of more than 100 meters:

Daytime: an anchor ball should be displayed on the bow.

Night: a white light (anchor light) should be displayed at the bow and stern; deck lights.


3. Stranded ship:

Daytime: Three black balls should be displayed vertically on the mainmast.

Night: Two red lights should be displayed on the mainmast, one anchor light should be hung on the bow.


4. Out of control ship:

Daytime: Two black balls should be displayed on the mainmast;

Night: Two all-around red lights, starboard and starboard lights, and stern lights should be displayed vertically on the mainmast.


5. Ships with restricted maneuverability:

Daytime:  the vertical sphere, diamond, and sphere should be displayed on the mainmast.

Night: Moving on the water: Navigation lights should be displayed, and the mainmast should display three vertical red, white and red all-round lights; non-water movement: the mainmast should display three vertical red, white and red all-round lights; (navigation lights off ) 


6. Ships limited to draught:

Daytime: a cylinder should be displayed on the mainmast.

Night: In addition to navigation lights, three red lights should be displayed vertically on the mainmas.


7. Ships carrying dangerous goods:

Daytime: the "B" flag is displayed on the mainmast.

Night: In addition to the navigation lights, a red light should also be displayed on the mainmast.
