Main purpose of the Gas-Freeing Cover
When the ventilation system of the cargo oil tank is equipped with a high-speed vent valve that meets the regulations, the gas in the tank can be automatically opened as long as the set opening pressure of the high-speed vent valve is reached, and the pressure valve can be discharged to the deck at a speed of 30m/s. However, other operating conditions of the cargo oil tank, such as clearing and degassing, also require ventilation. At this time, the pressure in the tank cannot automatically open the high-speed vent valve. The ventilation of the cargo oil tank needs to be equipped with a device that can be opened manually. This ventilation device is the Gas-Freeing Cover. It can be installed on the V valve body of the high-speed vent valve, or it can be independently installed on the branch pipe of the high-speed vent valve.
Under normal circumstances, when the Gas-Freeing Cover is opened, the gas that leaks out is generally not a flammable gas. Due to the low working pressure (not more than 2.0KPa), the outlet flow rate does not exceed 20m/s. Therefore, when the ship is sailing and loading and unloading operations, the purge cover can only be closed. The Gas-Freeing Cover is used as a pipe end flash fire arrester and has been fully tested in accordance with the relevant requirements of MSC/circ.677.
Main structure of the Gas-Freeing Cover
The Gas-Freeing Cover is installed on the vacuum valve and connected to the vacuum valve body by screws. The Gas-Freeing Cover consists of a fireproof net, a shell and an upper cover.
Usage and maintenance of the Gas-Freeing Cover
When using the Gas-Freeing Cover, just loosen the locking nut, lift the upper cover, and flip it to a vertical position to ventilate the cabin.
The locking nut, hinge and fireproof net of the Gas-Freeing Cover are made of high-quality stainless steel materials. They should be kept clean during use and should be cleaned regularly.
When the vacuum valve needs to be cleaned, just remove the connecting screws with the vacuum valve to move the Gas-Freeing Cover and clean the vacuum valve.
