The new year is an ancient festival in China, and it is also the most important festival in the whole year. In the development of history, there are many kinds of folk customs mixed together, forming some relatively fixed customs and habits, many of which have been passed down today. China is a multi-ethnic country, and different ethnic groups have different forms of New Year's celebrations. The form of the festival has its own national characteristics and is more interesting.

The Spring Festival is a day to get rid of the old and welcome the new. Although the Spring Festival is set on the first day of the first lunar month, the activities of the Spring Festival do not stop on the first day of the first lunar month. From the twenty-third (or twenty-fourth) year of December, people began to "busy year": sacrificing stoves, cleaning dust, purchasing new year goods, pasting New Year's Red, shampooing, decorating lanterns and so on. All these activities have a common theme, that is, "to say goodbye to the old and welcome the new". Spring Festival is a happy and peaceful festival, a time for family reunion, and also a carnival and eternal spiritual pillar for people to express their yearning for happiness and freedom. Before the Spring Festival, people who leave their homes in other places will return home as much as possible to reunite with their relatives and share the joy of family. On New Year's Eve, the whole family gathered together to have a "reunion dinner". The elders distributed "New Year's money" to the children, and the whole family sat together "to observe the New Year". During the New Year's Day, relatives and friends visit each other to express their feelings and wishes for the new year's life.

Spring Festival is also a festival of entertainment and carnival. On the first day of the lunar new year, the celebrations of firecrackers, fireworks, leaving the old year and greeting the new year reached their climax. On the morning of the first day of the year, each family burns incense to pay tribute to heaven, earth and ancestors. Then they pay tribute to their elders in turn, and then congratulate each other. After the Yuan Dynasty, various kinds of colorful entertainment activities have been carried out, adding a strong festive atmosphere to the New Year festival. Therefore, the Spring Festival, a grand festival of praying for the New Year, celebrating and entertaining, has become the most solemn festival of the Chinese nation. The festival atmosphere is not only permeated by every household, but also filled with streets and alleys all over the country. In some places, there are also customs such as lion dancing, dragon lanterns playing, community fires, Flower Fairs and temple fairs. During this period, lanterns filled the city, tourists filled the streets, extraordinary, unprecedented grandeur, until after the 15th Lantern Festival of the first month, the Spring Festival is really over. Traditional festival ceremonies and related custom activities are important contents of festival elements, carrying rich and colorful festival cultural connotations.

Warmly welcome foreign friends to come to China one day to experience the atmosphere of the Chinese New Year!
