Overview
The azimuth compass is used to indicate the bow direction of a ship, and the ship's bow direction (bowdirection) referred to here is also known as the heading, which is determined by the electric compass andtransmitted electrically relative to the geographical north direction of the ship's bow and stern line, regardless of the installation location of the electric compass. The direction of the bow and stern lines relative to the geomagnetic north is determined by the magnetic compass and transmitted electrically, regardless of the installation location of the magnetic compass. There are two ways for the 19-F azimuth compass to indicate heading: analog (dial) display and digital display. The lighting brightness of the monitor is adjusted by the buttons on the side of the housing.
User Manual
This user manual includes Opening and closing the azimuth compass and symbols that may appear on the digital display during use Description of. Guidelines for installation and initial operation Guidelines for maintenance and onboard repairs Explanation of the structure, working principle, and technical data of the compass.
1. Opening and closing of azimuth compass
Explanation of operating symbols
The operation status is indicated by symbols in the operation guide:
Open azimuth compass
Turn on the power and the azimuth compass will start working. Once the azimuth compass receives the heading information from the compass, its digital display accurately displays the heading and automatically performs dial synchronization matching to correctly indicate the actual heading of the ship.
Close the azimuth compass
Disconnect the power supply of the azimuth compass.
2. Maintenance and Repair
Whether it is routine maintenance of the directional compass or repair of the directional compass, when the display is chaotic replace the entire unit.
2.1 Troubleshooting:
2.2 Repair
The compass in this position cannot be repaired and can only be replaced as a whole.
3. The structure of the azimuth compass
3.1 Housing
The shell is pressed with cast aluminum, and the balance weight block is fastened to the bottom of the shell. The cable enters from the bottom of the shell. There is a 360 ° scale on the inner side of the surface glass, and the Body relative direction (ship angle) of the target can be obtained according to the azimuth meter. The adjustment button is located on the right side of the housing.
3.2 Fixed board and directional compass circuit board
The stepper motor is installed in the center on a fixed plate, and the analog dial is directly installed on the shaft of the stepper motor. The fixed board and PCB (printed circuit board) of the azimuth compass are installed on the shell through columns. PCB is equipped with necessary electronic devices.
In addition, the PCB board is also equipped with 7-segment LED Nixie tube for 4-bit heading indication and 18 SMD LED lights for lighting.
